New Blog & Podcast

My pal Ben "the Super-Nasty" (don't call him that to his face) has recently started a blog called Super Scribble. Ben is a bad ass artist and will soon be doing guest art chores on my web comic Awesome Marcus Ninja. please check out his blog to see some very cool sketches like this one.

I have yet to mention my new #1 favorite podcast.
I'll tell you how I found this podcast if you don't ask any questions about what I was searching for.
I was looking for something Jean Claude Van Damme related and I came across a very, uh, not-heterosexual pic of Jean Claude in a speedo hanging with Lorenzo Lamas. I ended up reading the site that it was posted on & it was the blog to recap episodes of Stop Podcasting Yourself . Stop Podcasting Yourself is the funniest podcast in the world. It is hosted by 2 extremely funny Vancouver comedians, Dave Shumka & Graham Clark & usually features a funny guest. I look forward to nothing more than the new episode each week and I am never disappointed. Check it out on Itunes or you can get the feed right off the blog site. & be sure to check the re-cap blog because that is usually as funny as the episodes.

A comeback is like a Yo-Yo .....

this may be my favorite thing ever,

UFC 98 - Machida-era begins

I want say how happy I am that Lyoto 'the Dragon' Machida is the new UFC light-heavyweight champion.

Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Rashad Evans and his fighting style but I find Lyoto's fighting techniques incredible to watch. Machida has an intriguing synthesis of offense/defense at the same time. To call him a counter striker doesn't do justice to his fighting style. I don't think there is another light-heavyweight right now that will be able to take the title from the newly crowned champion. Machida improves with every performance and it will be a very long time before anyone can figure a game plan to beat him. Rashad & Greg Jackson couldn't do it, & I don't think Rampage has what it takes. I think this is the beginning of a title run that will far surpass Chuck Liddell's dominant streak in the early years of Zuffa owning the UFC, that ended with Chuck losing the title to Rampage in May 2007. I am very excited to see what Machida can do.

Ink sketches - Brush pen

I picked up one of these Pentel Brush Pens last week and I've been playing around with it, trying to learn how to use it without making it look like I'm trying to rip off Jeff Lemires style. It's pretty cool, and I'll be playing around with it more trying to learn. baby steps. baby steps.

I've been busting my ass tryin to make Awesome Marcus Ninja look dope. this is the raw image to #545 pt 4. it was suppose to be the last panel of page 3 but I decided that an appearance of a giant Manga-esque robot deserved an entire page. also, I tried to do some extreme perspective stuff. Yeah yeah, I know it's only 1 point perspective, but it's extreme for me.

baby steps, guys, baby steps.

I know I've been pretty slack with the posts lately, but I will try to post more often. I did get some comics that I will post reviews later this week. this was done on the bus with a felt tip marker.
this was on the subway with the same felt tip marker. Staedtler 0.05. I went through a Swamp Thing phase about 5 years ago. I miss drawing Swampy.
